Strange Shanghai
Not so seldomly, you see fat gloves glued to the bars
of a moped. The driver slips in with his hands, and the
chase starts.
Gar nicht so selten sieht man am Moped-Lenker
festgeklebte dicke Handschuhe. Der Fahrer schlüpft
mit den Händen hinein und braust los.

For some days I was really convinced that Chinese people
do not cut the flowers in their vases but instead bend them.
Until someone showed me that there was no water at all in
this vase...
Mehrere Tage lang glaubte ich, dass die Chinesen ihre
Blumen für die Vase nicht abschneiden, sondern einfach
umbiegen. Dann zeigte mir jemand, dass gar kein Wasser in
der Vase ist...
The balance in the hotel was designed very user-friendly,
perhaps having in mind the guests who could not resist the
fantastic Chinese food. There is no line indicating where you
should read your kilograms.
Die Hotelwaage meint es gut mit dem vom chinesischen Essen
verwöhnten Gast. Es gibt keinen Mess-Strich - den darf
man sich selbst passend denken.

This CarQuarium we found in one of the green parks
of Shanghai.
Dieses CarQuarium gibt es in einem Shanghaier Park zu
bestaunen.
A highlight at the very end: For years I have been searching
for a radcap with some 11-fold symmetry in Germany... And in
Shanghai this very natural-looking VW-Santana 3000 drives
directly into my eyes. A moment of complacency.
Der Hit zum Schluss: Jahrelang habe ich in Deutschland
vergeblich nach Radkappen mit 11er-Symmetrie gesucht.
Und in Shanghai fährt mir ein entsprechend ausgerüsteter
VW-Santana 3000 direkt vor die Augen. Ein Moment der
Seligkeit.
