Bio-Informatics in Shanghai
The PICB in Shanghai is so far the only "Partner-Institute" of the
Max-Planck-Society in China. One of the founding directors of
PICB is Prof. Dr. Andreas Dress, from 2005 on.

Director Andreas Dress in his office. Before becoming an
Emeritus in 2003, he was Ordinarius at the
Faculty of Mathematics at Bielefeld University.
In the meantime, almost a dozen of his students have
chairs in Bio-Informatics at German universities.

Also visiting PICB were the Nehers from
Göttingen. Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher is Nobel prize winner
in Medicine (ion channels in cells; 1991). His wife,
Dr. Eva-Maria Neher, founded and directs "XLAB", the
famous "Experimental laboratory for young people" in
Göttingen.
Auch gerade zu Gast im PICB war das Ehepaar Neher aus
Göttingen. Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher ist Nobelpreisträger
für Medizin (Ionen-Kanäle in Zellen; 1991). Seine
Frau, Dr. Eva-Maria Neher, ist Begründerin und Leiterin
des XLAB, des tollen Göttinger Experimentallabors für Junge
Leute.

und long discussion with many curious students.
Nach dem Vortrag von Prof. Neher gab es eine sehr intensive
